Warmtebeeldcamera's detecteren straling in plaats van zichtbaar licht. Deze camera's zijn zeer geschikt voor de detectie van personen en voertuigen, dag en nacht. Een aantal thermische camera's kan ook de temperatuur van objecten in beeld weergeven.
